Fire Alarm & Suppression System

The RMC building is equipped with smoke detectors and fire/heat sensors/fire suppression system.

The smoke detectors located in the Common Elements sound an alarm throughout the building signaling residents to evacuate. Each alarm incorporates a strobe light to alert the hearing impaired. These alarms placed on the walls in the corridors look like the image to the left.

Each Unit is also equipped with smoke detectors that sound locally within that Unit to signal residents within that Unit to evacuate.

The fire/heat sensors activate the fire suppression/sprinkler system and such activation in turn notifies the Shoreline Fire Department.

Only those fire/heat sensors that detect high temperature will activate water flow. So, if a fire should occur in the kitchen only the sprinklers in the kitchen area would flow water to suppress the fire. Other sprinklers – whether in other rooms or Units – will not automatically flow water, unless and until, they also sense fire/heat.
