I hope everyone is enjoying our glorious summer. I do like the occasional day of fog or morning clouds, keeps from getting boring.

Tip Du Jour
To speed the ripening of peaches. Place peaches in a loosely closed paper bag at room temperature for 1-3 days. Check them often, at least twice a day, as ripening peaches can move from rock-hard to rotten very fast. As the peach ripens, it’s acid content reduces, making it sweeter. At the same time, juice develops within the fruit, causing it to soften and ripen.

As of Monday, July 17 Edmonds has a new bakery, Ganache Patisserie and Cafe, at 407 Main St. just west of the Edmonds Theater.
The owner is Nikolai Kulakevich, who originally had opened the Crema de La Crema bakery on 66th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.
I tried a decadent chocolate pastry and found it wonderful.

August Birthday’s
Linda Harvey
Book Nook
There has been a suggestion that we add children’s books to our library repertoire, so if you have any children’s that your grandchildren no longer find interesting put them down in the book nook for others to enjoy. Of course, that goes for any other type of book or magazine you may have around your homes. I think library has been a great success and enjoy going down and seeing what is new on the shelves.
Traveling Neighbors
Linda and John spent time in Indiana with family and friends. One of the things they did was visit the Cincinnati zoo and saw the famous Fiona.
David and Edy are in Calif, for a family event.
Phyllis Gillman and Erik Kraft are headed out on road trip, the peninsula, Oregon coast and eastern Washington. Are on their itinerary. Hope they have a good time.
Is anyone interested in going out to lunch while the weather is so fantastic? We could pick someplace where we can eat Al Fresco.
Potluck Sunday, August 27th
We hope to see everyone at the potluck. It is such a great event, filled with laughter and good times.
Enjoy the beautiful summer weather.
It is supposed to get a bit warm the next few days so stay hydrated and cool.
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM Tuesday to 9 PM PDT Friday.
Thursday should be the hottest day in this stretch for most spots, and high temperatures will probably be within 5 degrees of the all-time record high. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid 80s to lower 90s warming to the 90s to near 105 on Thursday. Friday will be a bit cooler, but highs will still be in the upper 80s and 90s.
