Building Security

Our security – and the security of the building – depends on you!

  • All entrance doors are to be kept locked at all times when not in use.
  • Do not admit any unknown person into the Common Elements.
  • Residents should pay attention to the closing of doors as they pass through and assure that doors close and lock securely. If doors are observed to be open/unlocked please close/lock such doors. If door closures or locks are malfunctioning please notify the Manager and/or a Board member immediately. Please note that the astragal on the front entrance door near the elevator can be knocked out of position if brushed against. If that happens the door will not close securely. Please note the Use Other Door sign and use the appropriate door when passing though this entrance. If you need to open the marked door, please be certain it is properly secured before exiting the area.
  • Pay particular attention when contractors are working in the building – either for you or for others. Contractors often leave outside doors open as they may be less concerned about our security than they are about their convenience. It is an important responsibility of the resident employing contractors to inform them of our security requirements and to check to assure that doors are closed and locked. Door security checks should be made while work is in progress as well as at the conclusion of work and cleanup.
  • To prevent unauthorized entry to the garage area through the motor operated gates residents should not open such gates if unknown/suspicious persons are in close proximity. We have learned that both motor operated gates tend to open when the remote opener is depressed near the inside (NE) corner of the garage close to the entrance to the Lobby. From this position the remote opener’s signal reaches both motor operated gates. To prevent any unintended gate opening please approach the exit gate before depressing the remote opener.
  • We have also found it necessary to pay particular attention to assure that the doors to the outside South and West facing walk-thru doors close properly. These metal doors expand when exposed to direct sunlight and do not always close completely. In that event a little “extra push” as the door closes will help it to close/lock properly.
  • The Electrical/Electronics Control Room is located on the exterior east side of the building on the ground floor behind the Refuse Room. It contains master panels for Comcast, Verizon Telephone and Seattle City Light. It also houses the circuit breaker box for the parking garage circuits. A master key for the outside door to this room is available for all residents in the 3rd floor Meeting Room.
